Govt. Institute for the Blind

Govt. Institute for the Blind, Panipat was setup in August, 1957 to create the livelihood of Blind persons by making them self dependent. In the beginning, this school was, up to class Eighth which was upgraded upto class 10^th . This is a residential School, in which about 120 Boys/Girls are being educated according to Haryana Education Board. In addition to study Boys & Girls are also educated in Weaving, Carpeting, Typing and Music. Free boarding/lodging, books and other facilities are provided to the students. Blind Boys and Girls 6 years to 16 years may get admission in this school. Now the Hostel facilities to Blind students of 10+1 and 10+2 of General School under Haryana Education Policy, has also been started in this Institution.

This institution has Braille Library, by which Blind students of Haryana may get free books on Braille Language. A Braille repair workshop is also available in this institute to repair Braille apparatus for the use of Blind persons.

About 280 Blind Boys/Girls have been educated till now. Students of these have been deputed on the post as given below:-

Not only above but the student of this school Sh. Ram Pal ( M.Phil ), Sh. Susheel Oswal MA( English), Sh.Jai Dutt Sharma MA( Music), Dr. Surender Sagwan Phd, Dr. Ram Niwas Phd & Sh. Dinkar Sharma PhD (Double Gold Medalist). At present 84 Boys & 31 Girls are taking education in the school.
